#1: In the Christian religion, God was loving and forgiving, while in Roman religion, the gods were somewhat harsh and mean.

#2: Christianity was spread by better roads, 2 languages, and the soldiers around the empire.

#3: Nero blamed Christians for the major fire and the would not worship him, which was against the law...

#4: The Empire Constantine made Christianity legal because it was the Edict of Milan.

#5: The Roman Catholic Church is the form of Christianity in Rome today.

#6: The 10 Commandments was the adhering law.

#7: The foundation of Western Society was the preaching of Jesus.

#8: Jews didn't follow Jesus as God.

#9: The Emperor endorsed it, people were talking about it more because of the languges and the roads and soldiers bringing new thought to different parts of the empire.

#10: Edict of Milan

#11: Christianity focused more on morality and ethics, while Greco-Romans were mostly based on politics.

Unit One Assignment Four


#1: Judaism influenced Christianity and Islam.

#2: "Jew" was short for Judah, and the reason Isrel split was after King Solomon died.

#3: The Jewish beliefs pointed out as being markers in Western Tradition were: human beings are separate from nature and have to struggle against it.

#4: The rich were to care for the unfortunate and share with their neighbors.

#5: Judaism gave power to the people by giving everyone access to God's wishes.

#6: The rule of law was established with the Jews because nothing is over the power of their god.

#7: Each individual was equal and the rulers and priests weren't the only ones that had access to God's wishes.

#8: God communicated with his people through his prophets...

#9: In the spoof the reason there were only 10 commandments was because the character of Moses dropped one set of 5.

#10: The freedom of choice is expressed by being able to be free in their religion.

Unit One Assignment Three

#1: A republic is a government that is a restricted group of citizens that are elected by other elected representatives. A democracy is a government by the majority, which means it directly rules and runs the government.

#2: The US is a republic but also a democracy.

#3: Rome was ruled by one unit of government.

#4: Rome was used as a melting pot because it was home to so many different thoughts and religious thoughts.

#5: Christianity was helped by the Roman Empire, because the emperor was impressed by a dream he had that was proved right.

#6: In old Roman Rule the gods didn't see people as equals, when Christianity where looked at as valued individuals.

#7: A man in the army may not be married until done with their training. When a slave commits a crime, he must serve time or be put to death if he cannot hold his time. If a father sells his son into slavery 3 times, the son will be freed of his father's power. When someone is called to court and does not appear, a witness will be called and the person may be captured.

#8: The rule of law is used in the Twelve Tables because nothing is above the law.

#9: They are somewhat similar but not so as in the people have a say in things. One of the great things to have as a US citizen.

Unit One Assignment Two

#1: In the first paragraph of the Definition of Democracy, it states that everything was very straight forward and direct to the citizens of Athens.

#2: In order to vote in a small city state, you must have been at least the age of twenty and a male of Athenian blood.

#3: As traditional monarch usually is where representatives represent the people of certain thoughts. Constitutional monarchy is where a certain person declares what will take place, with no citizen representation.

#4: In the beginning Greece was ruled by kings, but as there culture began to advance, more influential people the "Oligarchy" started to supplant the monarchies.

#5: As for the cornerstone of democracy, I understand it to be Greece's way of democracy. It was known as the blueprint for many country's way of government, including the United States of America.

#6: The word Draconian means extreme and harsh, and come from the very harsh rules of government Draco created.

#7: Polis is known as Greek city-states, the word politics also comes from this word.

#8: Aristocracy is a form of government in which a few, elite people rule.

#9: Solon was known as the "lawmaker of Athens". He is also remembered for his efforts in political, economical, and moral decline in Athens. His reforms appeared to fail in the short-term but in the long run he seemed to of shaped Athens's democracy.

#10: Instead of leaving all of the power to one party or thought, they decided on splitting it up for different powers in different people. With this idea it left for many more people with many different thoughts.
